VETERAN AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROGRAM

Veteran Community Resources, Inc., a 501 (c) 3 Community Housing Development Organization presents its,  Veteran Affordable Housing Program. In conjunction with its local partners, VCR has strategically aligned to offer newly constructed homes to our Nation’s deserving active service members and/or Veterans.

VCR will utilize a portion of the proceeds from the sales of earlier Veteran Affordable Housing Program projects, coupled with requested City funds to adequately fund the this project.   The development proposal is requesting that the four WPB City owned properties be donated to VCR along with the requested funds and in return, VCR will construct four 3 bedroom/2 bathroom 1,200 sq. ft concrete block homes to be sold at VAHP guideline discounts to qualified active service members and/or Veterans and their families.

Florida has the third largest population of Veterans in the nation after California and Texas with more than 1.6 million Veterans – 12 percent of the Sunshine State’s population 18 and over.  There are more than 231,000 Veterans of Afghanistan and Iraq who claim Florida as their home of record.  Florida has more than 160,000 women Veterans.  Florida has the largest population of World War II Veterans in the nation with more than 164,000.  Florida has the third largest population of disabled Veterans in the nation with more than 249,000

The outreach efforts to the Veteran community will be in partnership with, The National Disabled Veteran Business Council, Inc., a 501 (c) 19 Nationally Recognized Veteran Service Organization.  Outreach to the Florida National Guard & Reserves, ESGR, VA, Vet Centers, Veteran Service Organizations, and the like, are examples of the VAHP outreach efforts for qualified active service members and/or Veterans.

To qualify for these newly constructed homes, 80% AMI qualified active service members and/or Veterans must have a certified DD-214 with an honorable discharge and demonstrate the ability to financially qualify for the home. Upon completion, the neighborhoods will have gained the added value of productive members of society, and the City will have increased its tax rolls by four.

VCR will provide approved VA Lender contact information who can offer assistance with completing the checklist of initial documents needed to apply for a VA Home Loans or other mortgage products  whichever is the best value to the Veteran.
