City of West Palm Beach: Vacant Lot Donation

Veteran Community Resources, Inc., requested four (4) vacant lots from the City of West Palm Beach’s surplus property inventory list of 17, for our Veteran Affordable Housing Program.  The City donated one (1) to VCR.  The attached list shows the ongoing disparity of donations.  VCR’s leadership has met with the Director of Housing and Community Development regarding the topic of donated surplus property, and on several occasions the Director stated that a certain not-for-profit organization would not be getting donated properties on this round, as they have already received plenty.  That obviously did not come true. _Awarded Non-Profit Applications Track Sheet.xlsx Non _ Profit Applications Track Sheet.xlsx (2) Award-Veteran Non _ Profit Applications Track Sheet.xlsx (2)

9/5/17 Update: The City of West Palm Beach has not followed through on their promises again.  Here it is September, and the simple transfer of the vacant lot is still not done.  The popularly know saying, “Government is slow” is just an excuse for lazy and incompetent workers.  Government is not slow, people that work in government are slow.  Why work with any quality business acumen, they know their next direct deposit will be there.  Proof positive as to the direct distinction between public and private sector, standard operating procedures.  And the beat goes on…
